just a note - garden of eden?

Occasionally, we're all reminded that we're not the ones ruling the world. The animals are. Or, in this case, the tigers...

Las Vegas has the current most-famous tale, when Roy Horn (of Siegried & Roy) was attacked by one of his tigers during a packed-house performance, tried to beat him off with his microphone (does this work, a 2,000 lb jungle cat vs a microphone?) and is now fighting for his life. The Liberaces with tigers, as my lovely husband calls them, had done over 30,000 shows, and everyone seems surprised that he was attacked...

It's a TIGER, people. They don't want to be doing tricks for stupid humans.

Meanwhile, back in New York, three days later, the now-locally famous Antoine, Harlem's tiger man wanted to create a "Garden of Eden" in his apartment, housing an enormous Siberian tiger named Ming, a five-foot alligator, and, at one point, a lion. This man, who was attacked, and arrested (the former, by his tiger, the latter, for housing dangerous animals) has become a local hero, proclaiming that he only wanted for plants, people and animals to all get along.

A sign of the times. Or, a sign of New York City living. Despite the attack, Antoine is lonely and missing his tiger: "Ming was my only friend."
