Alice Marie Davenport Richardson - June 23, 1928 - May 31, 2007
On the last day of May, Milo lost his beloved "Big Grandma," and while his every day and every night "sad minutes" are somewhat assuaged by knowing that Grandma "is in heaven with the angels," it's harder for grown-ups. Wife of 54 years, mother for 52, grandmother for over 30 years, great grandmother for 3, Alice was adored by all, and had the sweetest, kindest soul. She read these entries faithfully and saved every scrap that Milo ever made for her, so it's only fitting that we give her some space in Milo's story - especially as he has so many about her. And I don't think she went on a single shopping expedition that didn't include some kind of treasure for one of us - especially her penguin-loving, ever-growing, NYC boy Milo Blue.

A very special and very happy Mother's Day. When you're trying to accept and remember and recreate a life without a heart this big, every little hug helps - and helped.

No caption needed, really. A few days after Grandma went to heaven with the angels, Milo spent a couple of sun-filled hours making his parents laugh, and sending his dragon-from-Auntie-Kim up into the blue where Grandma could see it better, with or without her glasses.
To our friends and family, your thoughts, prayers, wishes, emails, words and visits have meant everything. I only wish that everyone could feel as content as Milo does at night thinking about Grandma doing "whatever she wants" with "all the good angels" and "no bad guys anywhere."
This is really Alice's entry. The best mother-in-law one could ever hope for. But her son made her proud, her youngest grandson prouder, still, so I have to add a little Happy Father's Day here, too, to my extra-special husband-bear. Mommy, we were all together all day, just as you'd have wanted us to be...
