Our sprout son was named Charles by the lovely & poetic sonogram technician, who, having considered our Top 3 list, summarily rejected each and all, and found papa and grandpapa and great-grandpapa sprout's moniker to be a necessarily manly name for someone with such big hands and feet. She took enormous joy in "playing" with the baby, singing to him, and being sure he posed all the right ways.
A much more pleasant ending to a day that included way-too-early Pilates for mama sprout, way too much work, a happy parent lunch out that was rushed into hotdogs in a crackhead-filled park, with equal parts piss and pigeon, and then an hour wait in a dark, cold room with a humming fan overhead, and no sign of any kind of doctor anywhere.
Profile, curled on his back, and oh, those dancing feet...

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh look at my nephew...with the signature richardson feet! way to pass on those genes bro!
keep on working on those names...how about Theo? (just thought I would try one more time)
Very exciting pictures for grandma to be - He's of course adorable - and will be tall like his Dad - with those feet!!!
And a dancer like all of his Bay area relatives that we loved meeting!

Posted by: Eliot on August 9, 2003 06:57 PMHey Baby Clint,
I take two (shoes) make one for you! I can't wait til you get even bigger, so that you will come out early. Then we can kick it, you in your foo man shoes and I'll teach you my mother's ancient tofu beauty moves, the backwards flying squirrel kick. Your kung fu is no good flying monkey.
Roscoe Sprout,
We can dance the night away, seeing as that is my favorite activity these days. You are growing and growing, way to go baby boy and mama. I miss my Auntie Becca and Uncle Charles. soon I can wear my sprorty new ITALIAN shoes. Love you three.
Posted by: Kalani on August 16, 2003 02:10 PMBecca and Charles, I'm so thrilled you're going to have a boy - everyone else seems to have girls! And I love his little legs and feet, very cute. Maybe you can call him CJ for Charles Jr. Or not....
