bluenotes.5 - milo's first christmas

It went something like,
"Babe, are you awake?"
"Mmmm, yeah (sigh)"
"Merry Christmas."
"Meeerrrry. Christmasssss. (mumbled)."
Gurgle. Gulp. Gurgle. Squirt. (squirm).
"What are you wearing?"
"No idea. I'll dress him first, and bring the other Christmas outfits."
"No. Wait 'til we're about to leave to dress him. Just in case."
"Oh. Right. I'll pack up the gifts, then."
Gurgle. Coo. (hands waving wildly). Outburst.
"Can he wait to be fed at the grandparents?"
"He has to. How soon can we leave?"
Outburst. Scream. (more legs pumping, arms waving). Pacifier. (sigh).

Milo in his stripes, packages in bags, car seat and snuggly, parents slightly cleaned up, all of us bundled into a taxi and made it to the Paoletti grandparents apartment, only an hour late.

Aunt Sarah made a feast, Milo played and showed off his ability to be cute, and Mom even snuck a pre-dinner nap. There were presents galore, tons of treats, phone calls from family, and the normal holiday chaos. But there was also more than the usual calm... It's always incredibly soothing to hold a (not-screaming) baby in your lap.
